ASHDOWN FOREST – Friday 18th April 2014

A fantastic day was spent in Ashdown Forest. Our first site of the day rewarded us with excellent views of five WOODLARK together, a pair feeding three fully fledged young. Other goodies throughout the day included CUCKOO, COMMON CROSSBILL, STONECHAT, SISKIN, LESSER REDPOLL, brilliant sightings of TREE PIPITS and at least nine singing male COMMON REDSTART.

Whilst having lunch, we had views of several COMMON BUZZARD and a RAVEN. The afternoon was spent nearby where we found four male MANDARIN DUCK, LITTLE RINGED PLOVERS, GREY WAGTAILS and HOUSE MARTINS.
