ROCKINGHAM FOREST & RUTLAND WATER
Saturday 5th July 2014

A great day out despite the dodgy weather during the morning. With perseverance we managed to find at least three male and one female PURPLE EMPERORS. Other butterflies seen were WHITE-LETTER and PURPLE HAIRSTREAKS, WHITE ADMIRAL and good numbers of RINGLETS.

Spent the afternoon at Rutland Water where the highlights included two OSPREY, MARBLED WHITE BUTTERFLY, good numbers of TREE SPARROWS with RED KITES scattered around.

Here is a PURPLE EMPEROR that posed for us during the morning.
