Wednesday 27th September 2017

Our day kicked off with the group enjoying a ringing session with Simon & Pat Cox who showed us both GOLDCREST & COMMON CHIFFCHAFFS in the hand before we wandered the scrub and bushes looking for any grounded migrants. Highlights included plenty of BLACKCAPS, a GREY WAGTAIL plus more COMMON CHIFFCHAFFS and GOLDCRESTS.

After a morning coffee and slice of cake courtesy of a nearby Macmillan coffee morning we checked out a superb PURPLE SANDPIPER (Thanks for the call Liz!) as it showed really well in front of us.

The afternoon was spent around the scrape area where NORTHERN WHEATEAR, GREEN SANDPIPER, BLACK-TAILED GODWIT, NORTHERN LAPWINGS and lots more rounded off a great day in the field!
