DUNGENESS, KENT - WINTER BIRDING AT ITS BEST
Saturday 19th January 2019

A fabulous bright and sunny day down on the Dungeness peninsular and although breezy and cold, we enjoyed some brilliant birding.

Down on the beach to kick things off we had stunning views of hundreds of BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES plus MEDITERRANEAN GULL, NORTHERN GANNETS, COMMON GUILLEMOTS, RAZORBILLS, 2 GREAT SKUA, RED-THROATED DIVERS and thousands of GREAT CORMORANTS.

The remainder of the day was spent on the excellent RSPB reserve where we found EURASIAN TREE SPARROW, WATER RAIL, 3+ GREAT EGRETS, 7+ WESTERN MARSH HARRIERS, EUROPEAN STONECHAT, COMMON CHIFFCHAFF, GOOSANDER, KINGFISHER and a lovely 3rd winter CASPIAN GULL.
