WHERE THE PAGER TAKES US – NEW YEAR SPECIAL #1
Saturday 4th January 2020

Great start to our day trip programme for 2020 with a visit to coastal Suffolk where we saw ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD and at Hollesley Marshes RSPB reserve, a wintering SIBERIAN STONECHAT gave distant but good scope views. 6 TUNDRA BEAN & 30+ GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and a PEREGRINE FALCON were highlights from the wetland area.

After lunch we visited a nearby site where 3 WHOOPER SWANS fed in a winter wheat field. It was then off to the north of the county where we had amazing views of a wintering SHORELARK with some smart MEDITERRANEAN GULLS nearby.

As dusk fell, a brief scan revealed 8 PURPLE SANDPIPERS at Ness Point concluding a cracking day!
