Saturday 30th March 2019FRAMPTON MARSH RSPB RESERVE
We travel to this fantastic reserve situated on the Wash in Lincolnshire. Large flocks of Brent Geese graze the saltmarsh and thousands of duck are present on the freshwater scrapes which is a fantastic sight!
Hen Harrier, Merlin, Peregrine Falcon, Western Barn Owl and Short-eared Owl favour the saltmarsh or wet grassland where they hunt for rodents and small birds. With luck we may see a flock of Twite or even the elusive Lapland Bunting, which in recent years have occurred in good numbers.
Frampton Marsh is at the leading edge of visitor and habitat conservation planning and the RSPB have designed every aspect of the new habitat and facilities to maximise their value for wildlife and visitors.
Species we have seen on previous tours to this excellent reserve include Barnacle Geese, Whooper Swan, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Spotted Redshank and Water Pipit amongst others.
It’s a day not to be missed!
